Štěpán Hon
For a long time, Štěpán has been engaged in documentary photography and photojournalism. Currently, he is studying at FAMU (Film and TV School of The Academy of Performing Arts) in Prague.
He taught photography as an external teacher at VOŠP (College of Journalism) in Prague. He has arranged several individual exhibitions. The first one, Na východ od ‘civilizace’ (East of ‘Civilization’) was presented in the Regional Museum Teplice. His photography very often goes hand in hand with his discoveries of new worlds. In 1998 he and Jan Bouchal took a bike expedition from Prague to Aral Sea that resulted in an exhibition called Pohledy do očí - příběhy posbírané cestou na Východ (Views into Eyes – stories collected during a journey to the East). Since 1996 he has traveled and documented the Transcarpathian Region (Zakarpattia Oblast) in western Ukraine. The outcome of this work won two awards in Czech Press Photo contest. With his camera he also records the Czech border areas.
He has taken part in several group exhibitions. Within the frame of a project called Fotografové na pomoc postiženým povodněmi he put his works on display in many capital cities around the world. In 2003 and 2004 he was an official photographer of the President of the Czech Republic. As a co-author, he took part in filming a documentary film Půl čtvrté (72 min., 2006) by Tomáš Hodan.
